St stephen's psychiatric hospital in Glanmire Co Cork is an absolute disgrace,I Bridget o Donnell have been an out patient of St Stephens for many years. The staff in the last 8 years have been neglectful,I was given a letter to attend unit 4 in November 2022 and was informed after waiting 2 hours i could be waiting for another few hours and the doctor asked if I wanted the home based crisis team to call to me the day after instead of waiting and I agreed. No one contacted me and after a few days I contacted the home based crisis team myself who informed me that no one from st stephen's hospital contacted them and when I made a complaint they denied i was at the hospital and denied recieving any letter from my gp. Again in mid October of this year I had a breakdown and a different GP wrote a letter to st stephen's hospital and requested an urgent referral and st stephen's hospital deny receiving a letter in fact Jason o connell wrote to me denying receiving any letter despite the fact that i have the copy and dates of the letters sent to st stephen's psychiatric hospital Jason o connell did not acknowledge my email with the evidence, this is how they treat mental health patient's and their needs to be alot of reviews done to stop this happening to other vulnerable patients

I am going to say it was just a nightmare and a very frightening experience I have come across in my life a short version of what happened I went to unit 4 last evening with my 87 year old mother who at the moment has a severe depression and suicidal tendencies and we waited four hours to be told go home as they had no room for her so I can’t believe what went on with the Doctor who made an assessment on her was very strange and scary to me not a-mind my mother he didn’t have any manners and spoke to us in a very disrespectful un professional manner not to mention medical and mental health support he didn’t have any! My mother was very upset and begging him for help but he made her feel very uncomfortable and not wanted and said she wanted to stay but he went to a nurse and she came out with him and said ye have to leave or again frightened both of us as if we had done something wrong and all we were asking for was help for my mother’s state of mind!!

It was a nightmare I was only 8 years of age It was treated like a nazh war camp I was put in with adults over in the corner block 6 I'd avoid entry I went back two days ago the girl I meet at the front desk was lovely but the doctors and nurse even the didn't have any manner,so I'd like to put up a personal statement to not go there,
