Our family cannot thank or recommend the team at Sugarloaf Care Centre enough for the care they provided to our Dad. Dementia is an incredibly cruel illness, but from the moment he arrived, we had the peace of mind of knowing he was in a safe and secure environment. A few specific mentions that made a world of difference to us: • Clinical Leadership: Sinead’s deep knowledge and years of experience provided us with real comfort during a very uncertain time. Everything she promised us, especially regarding Dad’s journey, was handled exactly as she said it would be. • Administration: Tara and the admin team were excellent. They supported us through some very complicated matters with patience and professionalism. • Medical Care: The nurses on the ward were amazing and highly communicative regarding Dad’s changing needs. We were also so grateful for the GP, who took the time to explain every medication and worked tirelessly to adjust them as the illness progressed. • The Care Team: Carol and the entire care assistant team were incredibly supportive, not just to Dad, but to our whole family. • End-of-Life Care: Most importantly, the attention Dad received at the end of his life was both discreet and deeply supportive. It provided us with a sense of peace during a heartbreaking time. To everyone at Sugarloaf: thank you for looking after him so excellently. You made an impossible situation much easier to bear.
My beautiful father suffered from vascular dementia. He walked in to this care home in July of this year and four months later he is now dead . I’m absolutely devastated . The level of care was shocking at times , I don’t blame all the staff as some of them had a heart of gold and treated him with great dignity ,kindness and respect , but the people that I blame the most for his untimely death are the management, all I seemed to do was complain and it all fell on deaf ears.. Please think twice before you place your loved one in this home especially if they have dementia. I think it’s much better suited to elderly people that know what’s going on around them . I just want to say a big thank you once again to the staff that cared and treated him with love and kindness you all know who you are . To the staff that didn’t look after him the way he so deserved shame on you . One last word of warning don’t believe everything that you are told always look deeper and don’t be afraid to question anything that you think is wrong.
my father is a resident here, I can't praise the facilities, staff and level of care enough. he is very happy here. lovely outdoor areas, food is great, staff are amazing, there's a little coffee area at the front to meet relatives and friends, and a beautiful common room/dining area on the first floor with stunning view of the Sugarloaf
Drove past it in the car, looks class there was people in dressin gowns outside wish I was one of them, maybe one day!
