Very disappointed with the standard of care at Glendonagh. My father stayed for a month and we experienced multiple issues: inadequate staffing, poor hygiene (including persistent smell of urine), missing personal belongings etc etc. We expected a dementia-friendly environment, but the care fell far short of what was promised. Would not recommend.
Staff are always helpful polite & friendly, it's not an easy job but in Glendonagh they have so much kindness to give they make it look easy. Caring for our elderly 🥰💝
My mother was appallingly treated at Glendonagh. No medical details noted on admission, no care plan, bp out of control when I asked to have it checked...nurse said we can only monitor it! Nothing done. My mother died about a week later. I arrived one evening at that time to see a carer/attendant ignoring here, her jumper soaked with dribble, I changed it, could not get attention of staff to give them said jumper, and raise issue, as they were all in a meeting together! Usually residents left on own in day room. If 1 nurse dispensing meds, no other nurse available in evening, and other Unit having no medical supervision at this time. Have seen other residents being ignored when calling out, particularly one lady with hip fracture, sitting at end of her bed trying to get across to bathroom. 'They won't come' she told me.
If you are looking for a residential facility which offers high standards of care, good communication and that will give you peace of mind that your loved one is is safe.....keep looking, Glendonagh is not what your looking for.
Giving a one because none was not an option.
